Integration of Intelligent Methods
Combinations of Intelligent Technologies, also known as Hybrid Intelligent Systems, are more common in theory and experimentation and less in the application field although recently we face an increasing activity. The design of Hybrid Systems is often characterised by ad hoc rules-of-thumb and extensive prototype testing. However, as systems grow more complex and available data increase, exhaustive testing is becoming impractical.
EUNITE will try to provide guidelines regarding design, testing and assessment as well as an improved understanding of the fundamental nature of engineering systems' embedded hybrid intelligence. Another important question is whether the combination of such technologies can give solutions or improve the adaptive behaviour (see Smart Adaptive Systems).
